"I use fallen timber for my carvings and particularly ash trees that have been felled due to 'Ash dieback' I like to think of it as 'Ash comeback'!" - Tim Using locally sourced and seasoned wood From The Hill Sue has used burning techniques to create this beautifully unique door, inspired by the woodland animals From The Hill. "This was a project I undertook during Lockdown in 2020. The material is Ash, It was de-barked and scraped to shape. I took some ivy from a tree and traced it onto the trunk, it was quite surprising how different the leaves were but I copied each one faithfully when it could have been easier to use just one shape. For the bark I chiseled long grooves which doesn't really replicate ash bark but I allowed my self artistic licence as I liked the contrast to the smooth leaves. I finished off by adding a lamp which hangs over it. You can see the finished carving which is on display at The Lost Kitchen, Chettiscombe, Devon." - Tim Tim's take on a Magic Mushroom carved out of Ash.
